Follow instructions in this article which will explain the settings that can be configured from this section.
From the Variable page, it is possible to configure the variables and the associated data that can be extracted from the vSEC:CMS application. The application is pre-configured with variables of type system, directory or credential. It is not possible to delete the pre-configured variables. It is possible to change the description of the pre-configured variables by selecting a variable and clicking the Edit button.
It is only possible to delete variables of type Directory or Credential.
Configure Directory Variables
All new variables added will need to be assigned to a directory attribute. For example, to assign a variable of type Directory to an attribute from AD browse to Templates - Credential Templates and select the specific credential template and click Edit. Click the Edit link beside Issue Credential and in the User ID Options section, where the Assign user ID is set to an AD, click the Manage button. From the available templates select the template type that points to the required AD and click Edit. Click the Edit button beside Variable(s) and configure the attributes as required.
It is possible to test that the application can retrieve the attributes from the directory. The first step is to select a user from the directory. Select the user from the ID Assign dialog by clicking the Get ID button. Then click the Edit button beside Variable(s) and the Test button should be enabled. On clicking the Test button you should see a dialog with returned values from the directory.
Configure Credential Variables
It is possible to configure variable types that can be used to generate customizable identifiers for the credential tokens that are managed by the vSEC:CMS. From the Variables page click the Add button and select Credential from the first drop-down list. Enter a name, label and description for the variable and select Unique number from the second drop-down list. Enable the mandatory checkbox if it is required to always generate a credential ID when managing credential tokens.
Click the Configure button to configure the format that the customizable credential identifiers will take.
In the Prefix and Suffix fields you can enter a specific value if required. These values will then be set as a prefix and/or suffix value for any credential token managed by the vSEC:CMS. If the number format is set as Hex then the values entered here need to be hexadecimal values and if the number format is set as decimal then the values entered here need to be decimal. Alternatively, any character value can be set here if it is preceded with a '-' or a '()' characters. For example, a prefix of "KK-" and suffix of "-XX" would be allowed or "(AA)" and "(BB)" would also be allowed.
In the Length field enter the number of digits that will be allowed for the customizable identifier.
For the Number format select either hexadecimal or decimal for the format that the identifier will take.
Select Generate random number if the identifier is to be randomly generated or select Generate incremental number if the format is to be incremental.
Depending on what value is entered into the Length field and what number format is selected, information about the maximum number of available identifiers is displayed. The numbers generated indicate how many identifiers have been generated to date. The unique numbers available indicates how many more unique values are available that can be used depending again on what is configured.
Click the Test button to see a sample of what the identifiers would look like if the mechanism is used.
Enable the Enable generation to enable the generation of customizable credential identifiers for credential tokens managed by the vSEC:CMS. Enable the Generate new one at each credential issuance if it is required to generate a new identifier for a credential token every time that a particular credential is issued and managed by the vSEC:CMS . Enable the Generate new at credential registration if it is required to generate a unique identifier when a credential token is registered. If this option is selected and a credential is subsequently issued then a new unique value will be generated again when the credential token is issued.
